| I've done the math figuring out the top speed in each gear. If you have a manual transmission and you're at the end of your gear, putting in a lower ratio rear that necessitates another shift can possibly slow you down a bit. Z's with automatic transmissions don't need to worry about that. This is not a "one size fits all" kind of deal. As I'm sure you know, gearing is matched to your car and your application. For drag racing, optimal gearing would leave you at the end of 4th gear at the end of the track. Less than optimal gearing would make you shift to 5th before the track ends. That's what I'm saying. You know Zo's car better than I do so you're probably right about his car. But I'm just stating to the other poster that you can't just blindly throw in parts without first calculating that they'll help you.
